Case IH 2295-03 - UCM – UCM: Front pilot head #2 reporting supply voltage high

The electronic control system is detecting a voltage reading above the acceptable operational limit at the pilot head of the hydraulic remote control valve (EHR valve). This is typically caused by a short circuit to power in the wiring harness, a sticking power supply relay, or an internal electrical failure within the pilot head solenoid itself.

   Inspect the UCM interface wire harness and the specific branch running to the front remote valves for chafed wires that may be shorting to a 12V power source.

   Disconnect the electrical terminal pin at the pilot head and check for water ingress, bent pins, or corrosion.

   Check the UCM power supply relays in the fuse box, specifically testing the UCM Afterrun power supply relay (K-032) to ensure it is not stuck closed and feeding improper voltage.

   Swap the suspect pilot head with a known-good pilot head from an adjacent remote valve; if the fault code changes to match the new position, the pilot head has failed internally, but if the code remains on #2, the issue is in the UCM or the wiring harness.

   Depressurize and Power Down

   Ensure the tractor is turned off, hydraulic pressure is relieved, and the battery is disconnected to prevent electrical spikes.

   Remove the Faulty Pilot Head

   Locate the front remote valve stack. Disconnect the electrical connector from pilot head #2. Remove the mounting hardware (typically M8 x 40mm hex socket screws) and carefully pull the pilot head and adapter plate away from the valve body.

   Install the replacement pilot head assembly. Secure it using the hex socket screws and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Perform Valve Calibration

   Connect a pressure transducer (Special Tool # 380001903) and jumper harness (Special Tool # 84148258) to the valve. Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or access the tractor's on-board ADIC 'H Menu' (Calibration Menu) to run the automated calibration procedure for the remote valves so the UCM can learn the new pilot head's electrical characteristics.
