2305

Case IH 2305 – Transmission ECU: 19th gear clutch solenoid over voltage

Issue description

The control module is detecting a higher-than-expected voltage on the circuit that controls the 19th gear clutch solenoid, which typically points to a short circuit to power, a faulty solenoid coil, or a wiring harness issue.

Applies to these machines

  • Puma/Mid Range Magnum
  • Case IH Magnum series
  • Case IH Puma series
  • Case IH Steiger series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the transmission wiring harness for any rubbed, pinched, or exposed wires that could be shorting to a power source

  2. Disconnect the main transmission harness connectors (e.g., X-091, X-092, X-264) and check the continuity and resistance of the wires leading directly to the 19th gear clutch solenoid

  3. Check the resistance of the 19th gear clutch solenoid coil itself to determine if it is out of specification (shorted internally)

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Solenoid

Locate the transmission valve block where the clutch solenoids are housed.

  3. Replace the Solenoid/Wiring

If the wiring harness is damaged, repair or replace the affected section. If the solenoid failed the resistance test, remove the retaining hardware, pull the faulty 19th gear clutch solenoid, and install the replacement.

  4. Reassemble and Reconnect

Plug the harness connectors back in and reconnect the battery.

  5. Perform Calibration

After replacing the solenoid, perform a transmission calibration by running the '19th gear clutch solenoid quick fill adjustment' through the tractor's H-Menu using the 'h' (increase) and 'm' (decrease) buttons on the display to set the fill value between 0 and 255.
