Case IH 2307-04 - UCM – UCM: Front Pilot Head #3 Supply Voltage Low
Issue description
The system is detecting that the electrical supply voltage to the electronic actuator (known as the pilot head) on the #3 front electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve is below the normal operational limit or shorted to a low source. This prevents the remote valve from functioning properly and will typically lock out hydraulic functions on that circuit until the tractor is restarted or the issue is resolved.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum 280
- Magnum 310
- Magnum 340
- Magnum 380
- Magnum 400
- Steiger AFS Connect Series
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the #3 front remote valve pilot head. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or corrosion inside the connector pins.
Use a multimeter to measure the supply voltage at the connector for the #3 front pilot head while the key is ON. Compare this reading to a known good remote (like front remote #1 or #2) to determine if the voltage drop is in the tractor's wiring harness or internal to the pilot head itself.
To isolate the failure, swap the electronic pilot head from remote #3 with the pilot head from another working remote valve. If the fault code changes to follow the moved pilot head, the pilot head is internally shorted/faulty. If the 2307-04 code remains on circuit #3, the issue is in the wiring harness or the UCM.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor
Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic pressure, and clean the area around the #3 front remote valve thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the faulty pilot head.
Remove screws
Remove the Allen/hex head screws securing the electronic pilot head to the mechanical valve body.
Remove pilot head
Carefully lift the old pilot head off the valve.
Install new pilot head
Install the new pilot head onto the valve body, ensuring the mating surfaces are clean and the O-rings/seals are properly seated.
Secure and reconnect
Torque the mounting screws to the manufacturer's specification and reconnect the electrical harness.
Reassign and calibrate
Crucial Final Step: You cannot simply plug and play a new pilot head. You must connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the tractor to reassign the valve addresses so the UCM knows which cab lever controls the new valve. You must then run the EHR calibration procedure to tune the valve for proper flow and function.
