Case IH 2307-12 - UCM – UCM: Front Pilot Head #3 Internal Controller Fault

Front Pilot Head #3 is reporting an internal controller fault. The pilot head is an electronic actuator mounted on the hydraulic remote spool valve that controls hydraulic fluid flow. An internal hardware or software failure can short out or disrupt the CAN bus network, often causing all other hydraulic remotes to go offline simultaneously.

   Perform a CAN Bus Isolation Test by unplugging the electrical connector at Front Pilot Head #3 to see if CAN bus communications recover and other remotes come back online

   Inspect the connector at the UCM and the pilot head for water ingress, dirt, or damaged pins

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if there is an available EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) software update

   Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic system pressure, and disconnect the battery ground

   This protects the UCM.

   Locate Front Pilot Head #3

   Found on the hydraulic remote valve stack.

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness

   Disconnect from the faulty pilot head.

   Unbolt and remove the faulty pilot head valve assembly

   Remove from the spool block.

   Install the new pilot head valve assembly

   Secure the mounting bolts.

   Reconnect the electrical harness

   Connect to the new pilot head.

   Power on the tractor and connect the Case IH EST

   Alternatively, use the in-cab AFS display if supported.

   Perform a hydraulic remote valve calibration

   This allows the UCM to learn the parameters of the new pilot head.

   Clear the 2307-12 fault code

   Test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
