Case IH 2307-19 - UCM – UCM: CAN bus communication loss with #3 front hydraulic remote valve pilot head

The UCM (Universal Control Module) has lost CAN bus communication with the #3 front hydraulic remote valve pilot head, typically due to an internal electronic failure, loss of power/ground, or a broken CAN bus wire.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #3 front pilot head for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   Perform an isolation test: Unplug the #3 pilot head. If the other hydraulic remotes suddenly come back online, the #3 pilot head has an internal short that is crashing the CAN bus.

   Perform a swap test: Swap the #3 pilot head with a known good adjacent pilot head (e.g., the #1 or #2 front remote). If the fault code follows the pilot head to the new position, the pilot head is defective. If the fault code remains on the #3 position, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the UCM itself.

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

   Thoroughly clean the area around the #3 front remote valve.

   Prevents dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty pilot head.

   Remove the mounting screws securing the pilot head to the remote valve body.

   Typically hex/Allen head.

   Carefully lift the old pilot head off the valve slice.

   Ensure the mating surface is clean and install the new pilot head assembly.

   Make sure the O-rings are properly seated.

   Torque the mounting screws to the manufacturer's specification.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Start the tractor and perform a remote valve calibration procedure.

   Use the tractor's display monitor (e.g., Pro 700 / Pro 1200) so the UCM can learn the travel limits of the new pilot head.
