Case IH 2334 – Transmission Control Module: Pressure indicated on the forward clutch pressure switch when the clutch solenoids are off
Issue description
The transmission control system is detecting hydraulic pressure at the forward clutch even though the forward clutch solenoid valve has been commanded to turn off. This usually points to a faulty pressure switch (stuck closed), a short in the wiring harness, or a mechanically stuck clutch solenoid valve allowing fluid to bypass.

Check the cause
Monitor Switch State: Enter the H Menu and navigate to the transmission controller. Monitor Channel 50 (Ch 50) or d21 (CN3A pin 12 / CN4 pin 11), which corresponds to the Forward clutch pressure switch.
Verify Readings: The display should read '0' (clutch not at pressure) when in neutral/reverse, and '12000' (clutch at pressure) when forward is engaged. If it reads '12000' while the solenoid is off, the fault is active.
If diagnosing a faulty switch (most common cause): Unplug the electrical connector at the forward clutch pressure switch. If the diagnostic reading drops to '0', the switch is mechanically stuck closed and must be replaced.
If diagnosing a short circuit (wiring cause): If the reading remains high even with the switch unplugged, trace the wiring harness back to the transmission controller (CN3A/CN4 plug) and check for a short circuit to an 8V or 12V power source.
If diagnosing a stuck solenoid valve (mechanical cause): If the switch tests fine electrically, the forward clutch solenoid valve may be mechanically stuck open, allowing actual hydraulic pressure to reach the switch.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Depressurize the system
Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the transmission system before removing components.
Locate the forward clutch pressure switch on the transmission control valve block/manifold.
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty pressure switch.
Unscrew the pressure switch from the transmission manifold.
Have a catch pan ready for minor fluid loss.
Install the new transmission pressure switch and tighten it to the OEM specified torque.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Turn the key on, connect the diagnostic tool (or use the H Menu), and clear the stored 2334 fault code.
Start the tractor and cycle the shuttle lever between forward, neutral, and reverse to ensure smooth clutch engagement and verify the code does not return.
