Case IH 2343 – Transmission (TRANS) controller: Clutch B solenoid - open circuit or short circuit to ground

The controller has detected a break in the wiring (open circuit) or a short to ground in the electrical circuit that controls the Clutch B (or Even) hydraulic solenoid.

   Inspect the electrical feed line and wiring harness for the Clutch B solenoid for any visible damage, breaks, or chafing.

   Inspect the connector pins at the solenoid and the transmission controller for corrosion, bent pins, or loose connections.

   Test the battery voltage and the feed line, as a weak battery or connector can cause low voltage readings.

   Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the solenoid coil to determine if the coil itself is internally open or shorted.

   Locate solenoid

   Locate the Clutch B solenoid on the transmission control valve block.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the solenoid.

   Repair wiring

   If the wiring harness is damaged, repair or replace the affected section of the harness.

   Remove solenoid

   If the diagnostic tests indicate a damaged solenoid coil, remove the retaining nut/bolt and slide the old solenoid coil off the valve stem, or remove the entire solenoid valve assembly depending on the specific transmission design.

   Install new solenoid

   Install the new hydraulic solenoid or solenoid coil.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness and ensure the connector is fully seated and locked.

   Clear codes

   Clear the fault codes from the transmission controller.

   Calibrate clutch

   Perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure (often required when replacing transmission clutch components).

   Test operation

   Test operate the tractor to verify the code does not return and the transmission shifts correctly.
