Case IH 2349-07 - BCM – BCM: CAN low beam light switch - switch error
Issue description
The control module has detected an error, such as an invalid signal, open circuit, or short circuit, on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus specifically related to the low beam headlight switch.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Steiger / Quadtrac AFS Connect
Check the cause
Test the operation of the low beam lights using the rotary switch or the stem light switch on the steering column to verify the symptom
Check the physical condition of the low beam light switch for mechanical failure or sticking
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the Body Control Module (BCM) for moisture damage, corrosion, or loose pins
Verify the integrity of the CAN bus communication lines between the steering column/switch panel and the BCM, looking for shorted or open circuits
Ensure that the unswitched battery power and relays managed by the BCM are functioning correctly
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent voltage spikes while working on the BCM or CAN bus wiring.
Access the Switch
Remove the steering column shrouds or cab control panel trim to access the low beam light switch assembly.
Test the Circuit
Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals when toggled.
Inspect Wiring
If the switch tests good, trace the CAN wiring harness from the switch back to the BCM. Repair any damaged, chafed, or broken wires.
Replace the Component
If the switch fails the continuity test or has internal driver circuit damage, replace the switch assembly.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect the switch and battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 2349-07 fault code from the BCM memory.
Functional Test
Turn the key-start switch to the "ON" position and operate the low beam lights to confirm the repair and ensure the code does not return.
