Case IH 2351-07 - BCM – BCM: CAN alt beam light switch - switch error

Malfunction, such as an open circuit, short circuit, or CAN communication failure, specifically originating from the alternate (high) beam headlight switch.

   Test the high beam function on the steering column switch to check for physical failure or communication drop

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the steering column switch to the BCM for pinched wires, loose pins, or corrosion at the connector

   Verify the BCM software version, as updates (e.g., versions 1.0.0.0 or 1.2.0.0) are sometimes required to resolve erroneous module faults

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the CAN bus system.

   Access the Steering Column

   Remove the plastic shrouds surrounding the steering column to access the multifunction switch assembly.

   Disconnect the Harness

   Carefully unplug the CAN wiring harness connector from the steering column switch.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Unbolt the steering column switch assembly (which houses the turn signals, headlights, and horn) from the column.

   Install the New Switch

   Mount the replacement OEM steering column switch and reconnect the CAN wiring harness.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reinstall the steering column shrouds, reconnect the battery, and power on the tractor. Use the AFS Pro 1200 display or an electronic service tool to clear the 2351-07 fault code from the BCM. Test the high beam lights to ensure the error does not return.
