Case IH 2353 (517967.15) - DEC – DEC: Clutch B solenoid - short to high voltage

This fault code indicates that the control module has detected an electrical short to a high voltage source (typically the +12V power supply) on the circuit controlling the Clutch B solenoid valve. The system flags this error because the voltage remains high even when the drive/clutch is commanded to be switched off.

   Inspect the wiring harness running between the DEC (Transmission Controller) and the Clutch B solenoid for rubbed or chafed wires that could be shorting to a +12V power source.

   Disconnect the harness at the Clutch B solenoid and at the DEC to check for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins that could bridge the power circuits.

   With the key on and the clutch commanded off, probe the Clutch B solenoid connector. If +12V is present, the harness is shorted to power.

   Measure the resistance across the Clutch B solenoid coil to determine if the solenoid itself has failed and shorted internally.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical damage during the repair.

   Locate the Valve Block

   Locate the transmission control valve block on the side of the transmission housing where the clutch solenoids (Clutch A, B, C, etc.) are mounted.

   Isolate the Fault

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the Clutch B solenoid. If previous diagnostic tests proved the harness is shorted, trace the harness back to the DEC and repair or replace the damaged wiring section.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the harness is intact and the solenoid coil is internally shorted, remove the retaining pin/screws securing the Clutch B solenoid valve and extract it from the manifold.

   Install New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid (e.g., Case IH Akcela Nexplore) and install it into the valve block.

   Reassemble and Power Up

   Reconnect the wiring harness and the battery.

   Clear Codes

   Access the tractor's diagnostic H-menu (or use the electronic service tool) to clear the stored 2353 fault code from the DEC memory.

   Transmission Calibration

   You must perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure for Clutch B (and ideally all clutches) to ensure the DEC learns the correct engagement pressures and fill times for the new solenoid.
