Case IH 2360 – Transmission Controller (Trans / TCU): Reverse Clutch Solenoid is shorted to +12 Volts, current sensed while driver is off
Issue description
The transmission controller is detecting electrical current flowing through the reverse clutch solenoid circuit even when the controller is not actively commanding the solenoid to turn on. This typically means the solenoid's signal wire has chafed and is touching a 12-volt power source, or there is an internal short within the solenoid or the controller itself.

Check the cause
Test Solenoid Resistance: Disconnect the electrical connector at the reverse clutch solenoid and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid pins (should be between 8 to 11 Ohms).
Test for Short to Power: If the solenoid resistance is okay, disconnect the transmission controller (CCU/TCU) main connector, turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and measure the voltage between the reverse clutch solenoid signal wire and a known good ground (if you read 12 volts, the wiring harness is shorted to a positive voltage source).
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and engage the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical spikes.
Inspect the Harness
Trace the wiring harness from the transmission control valve block back to the Transmission Controller. Look for pinch points, melted insulation, or areas where the harness rubs against the chassis or transmission housing.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If a short to +12V was found during diagnostics, repair the chafed wire using OEM-approved heat-shrink butt connectors, and re-loom the harness to prevent future rubbing.
Replace Solenoid (If Applicable)
If the solenoid failed the 8-11 Ohm resistance test, remove the retaining bolt/clip on the transmission valve block, pull the old reverse clutch solenoid, lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid, and install it.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect all harness connectors and restore battery power. Turn the key on and use the tractor's diagnostic menu to clear the inactive 2360 fault code.
Recalibrate
Because the reverse clutch circuit was disrupted (and especially if the solenoid was replaced), you must perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure (often requiring the transmission fluid to be at operating temperature) so the controller can relearn the clutch fill times.
