Case IH 2362 – CCU (Chassis Control Unit) or Transmission Controller: Clutch A not calibrated

Issue description

The transmission control system lacks the necessary calibration parameters (such as quick fill adjustments and pressure values) for the Clutch A pack. As a result, the transmission may be disabled entirely, or the tractor will experience poor clutch performance on the uncalibrated clutch.

Applies to these machines

  • Puma/Mid Range Magnum
  • Puma
  • Magnum
  • Maxxum
  • Steiger
  • T7
  • TM
  • T6000

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the tractor battery has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a jump box or external charger). If connected, disconnect it and test for normal operation.

  2. Determine if the transmission processor was recently replaced or if an 'H8 (memory clear) mode' was recently performed, which naturally wipes calibration data.

  3. Ensure no other error codes (such as 2503: Clutch A solenoid open/short circuit, or 2505: Clutch A pressure not plausible) are present. Address any electrical faults before attempting calibration.

Repair steps

  1. Attempt Calibration

Initiate the transmission calibration procedure (either Automatic Clutch Calibration or Individual Clutch Calibration for Clutch A) using the tractor's display/menu buttons.

  2. Evaluate Calibration Results

If the calibration completes successfully and the error clears, the tractor is okay. If errors or messages are displayed during the calibration process, proceed to Step 3.

  3. Service the Solenoid

Locate the Clutch A PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) solenoid valve on the transmission external control valve block. Remove the PWM valve, clean it thoroughly, and reinstall it. Alternatively, swap it with a known good processor/solenoid to test.

  4. Re-Calibrate

    Attempt the calibration procedure again.

  5. Hydraulic/Mechanical Testing

If the calibration still cannot be performed successfully, the issue is not electronic. You must pressure test the hydraulic circuit to check for a faulty hydraulic circuit or a mechanical fault inside the transmission clutch pack.
