Case IH 2364-00 - BCM – BCM: Work lamp #11 - too many loads or faulty load

The BCM has detected an excessive current draw on the circuit for Work Lamp #11, which typically indicates a short circuit, an incorrect wattage bulb/LED, or too many aftermarket accessories spliced into the circuit.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect Work Lamp #11 for physical damage, cracked lenses, or water intrusion, which can cause internal shorting.

   Circuit Load Verification: Check if any aftermarket lights, radios, or accessories have been spliced into the Work Lamp #11 wiring harness. The BCM will throw this code if the total amperage exceeds the factory threshold.

   Wiring Harness Check: Trace the wiring from Work Lamp #11 back to the BCM. Look for pinched wires, rubbed-through insulation, or exposed copper shorting against the tractor cab or chassis.

   Disconnect Test: Disconnect the lamp from the harness. Turn the machine on and check the fault codes. If the code changes from 2364-00 (too many loads) to 2364-05 (open circuit), the wiring is likely fine, and the lamp assembly itself is internally shorted.

   Multimeter Testing: Measure the resistance across the lamp's terminals. A reading of near-zero ohms indicates a dead short inside the lamp.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental shorts or BCM damage during repair.

   Locate the Faulty Component

   Identify Work Lamp #11 on the cab roof, fender, or hood (consult the operator's manual for exact lamp numbering, as this varies slightly by cab configuration).

   Isolate the Wiring

   Unplug the weatherproof connector at the base of the lamp.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a rubbed wire, cut out the damaged section, solder in a new piece of wire of the same gauge, and seal it with marine-grade heat shrink tubing. Wrap the repair in a protective wire loom.

   Replace the Lamp (If Applicable)

   If the lamp is internally shorted, unbolt the mounting bracket hardware. Install the replacement work lamp and tighten the mounting nut to factory spec.

   Reassembly

   Plug the connector back into the lamp, ensuring the weather seal clicks securely into place.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the AFS Pro display (or a dealer diagnostic tool) to clear the inactive BCM fault codes. Turn on the work lights and verify that the lamp illuminates without triggering the 2364-00 code again.
