2364

Case IH 2364 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Even Clutch not calibrated

Issue description

The transmission controller does not have the required calibration values saved in its memory for the 'Even' clutch pack. This condition typically occurs when a new transmission controller is installed, after a software update, or if a previous transmission calibration sequence was interrupted or failed.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Puma/Mid Range Magnum
  • Steiger T4B
  • Case IH Magnum Series
  • Case IH Steiger Series

Check the cause

  1. Check for active electrical faults for the transmission solenoids (e.g., code 2353). If an electrical fault exists, the calibration will fail.

  2. Check transmission fluid temperature. The oil must be warmed up to operating temperature (60°C to 105°C / 140°F to 220°F) before calibration.

  3. Perform a safety check: ensure the tractor is parked on a flat, open surface away from obstacles and people, as the machine may lunge automatically during the calibration process.

Repair steps

  1. Warm transmission fluid

Start the tractor and warm the transmission fluid to at least 60°C (140°F).

  2. Park and engage brake

Park in a clear area and engage the parking brake.

  3. Access CONFIG MENU

Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the Enter key on the keypad to access the CONFIG MENU.

  4. Select TCU

Use the down arrow key to highlight TCU (Transmission Control Unit) and press Enter.

  5. Access ETC MENU

Scroll down to the ETC MENU and press Enter to access the transmission sub-menus.

  6. Access TRANS SETUP

Scroll until the TRANS SETUP screen displays, then press Enter.

  7. Select Clutch Calibration

Select Cltch Cal (Clutch Calibration) and press Enter.

  8. Verify temperature

The screen will display Oil Deg, showing the current hydraulic fluid temperature. If the temperature is within the 60 - 105°C range, press Enter to continue.

  9. Run calibration

Follow the on-screen prompts to run the automated calibration. The controller will cycle through the clutches (including the Even clutch) to learn their fill times and engagement pressures.

  10. Complete calibration

Once the sequence completes successfully, the new values are stored, and code 2364 will clear.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Transmission Solenoid Valve (Even Clutch Solenoid)

    84173878

Replaces older part number 87440439. Fits the powershift valve body on Case IH Magnum (215-340) and Steiger tractors.

  • Transmission Control Unit (TCU)

Only required if the module has failed internally and cannot retain calibration memory.
