Case IH 2365 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): C1-2 Clutch not calibrated
Issue description
Triggers when the transmission controller lacks the necessary dynamic engagement data for the C1-2 clutch. This condition is completely normal if a new transmission controller has just been installed on the tractor, if the controller's memory was wiped, or if a previous calibration sequence was interrupted or failed.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Magnum
- Puma/Mid Range Magnum
- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac Series
Check the cause
Check for related codes (e.g., 2363, 2364, 2366) to verify if multiple clutches are uncalibrated, indicating a blank TCU memory.
Check for active open or short circuit codes for the C1-2 clutch solenoid (e.g., 2344, 2354). Any electrical faults must be repaired before calibration.
Check transmission fluid temperature. It must be warmed up to between 60°C and 105°C (140°F - 221°F) for optimum calibration results.
Repair steps
Preparation
Move the tractor to an open area free of obstacles, people, and pets. Park on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
Access the Menu
Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within ten seconds, press and hold the Enter key on the keypad until the CONFIG MENU displays.
Navigate to TCU
Use the down arrow key to highlight TCU in the menu list and press Enter.
Navigate to Calibration
Press the down arrow key to find the ETC MENU, press Enter to access TRANS VIEW, then arrow down to TRANS SETUP and press Enter.
Select Clutch Calibration
Highlight the Cltch Cal (clutch calibration) screen and press Enter.
Verify Temperature
The Oil Deg screen will display the current hydraulic fluid temperature. If it is within the 60–105°C range, press Enter to continue.
Calibrate Clutches
The screen will prompt you to calibrate the clutches one by one (e.g., C1-2, C3-4, F1, R1). Press Enter to begin calibrating the displayed clutch.
Wait for Engagement
The tractor will automatically shift and modulate the solenoid valves to measure the speed at which the clutch engages. Once it finds the correct calibration value, it will display the calibration numbers followed by an asterisk (*).
Proceed and Save
Press Enter to accept the value and move to the next clutch. Repeat this until the screen displays trans cal complete.
Key Off
You must shut off the engine/key to save the new calibration data to the TCU memory.
