Case IH 2368 – Transmission Electronic Control Module: Medium range clutch not calibrated

Triggered when the transmission controller does not have a valid, stored calibration value (fill time and engagement current) for the medium range clutch pack. Without this calibration data, the transmission cannot smoothly modulate the clutch, which can result in harsh shifting, lunging, or the controller disabling the transmission/specific gears entirely.

   Check transmission fluid temperature (must be between 60°C and 105°C / 140°F - 221°F for calibration)

   Ensure engine RPM is stable at the specified calibration speed (usually around 1200 RPM)

   Verify operator controls are set correctly: shuttle lever in Neutral and clutch pedal fully released

   Check for active electrical fault codes (such as 2348 for the medium range clutch solenoid) that would prevent calibration

   Perform a safety check: park on a flat, open surface, engage the parking brake, and ensure the area is clear

   Warm up the tractor

   Drive or operate the tractor until the transmission fluid reaches the target temperature (60°C+ / 140°F+).

   Enter Calibration Mode

   For AFS Monitor/Keypad models (e.g., Magnum 340): Turn the key switch ON. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the 'Enter' key to access the CONFIG MENU. Navigate to TCU -> ETC MENU -> TRANS SETUP -> Cltch Cal. For older H-Menu models (e.g., MXM/Maxxum): Hold the upshift and downshift buttons simultaneously while starting the tractor to access the 'H' diagnostic menu, then scroll to the clutch calibration segment.

   Verify Temperature

   The screen will display the current oil temperature. If it is within range, press Enter to proceed.

   Calibrate Clutches

   The system will prompt you to calibrate the clutches one by one (e.g., F1, F2, Medium Range, etc.).

   Engage the Test

   Press 'Enter' (or hold the upshift button, depending on the model) to begin. The TCU will slowly increase the electrical current to the medium range clutch solenoid. It monitors the engine speed sensor and transmission speed sensors to detect the exact millisecond the clutch 'bites' (indicated by a slight drop in engine RPM).

   Save Values

   Once the TCU finds the correct modulation value, it will display a calibration number followed by an asterisk (*). Press Enter to save this value and move to the next clutch.

   Complete

   Cycle through all clutches until the screen reads 'Trans Cal Complete'.

   Store Memory

   Turn the key switch OFF for at least 3-5 seconds to permanently store the new calibration figures in the TCU memory.
