Case IH 237 – Engine Controller (ENG / Engine ECM): External Speed Multi Unit Sync Command Input Data Incorrect

Issue description

The engine controller is receiving invalid, corrupted, or incorrect data regarding the external speed synchronization command from another unit on the machine's communication network.

Check the cause

  1. Check CAN-bus communication lines between the Engine ECM and other modules (such as the Transmission or Armrest controllers)

  2. Inspect wiring harnesses and connectors for the external speed sensors for damage or loose connections

  3. Verify the integrity and operation of the external speed sensors

Repair steps

  1. Repair

    Repair a broken data wire if found during communication and wiring diagnostics.

  2. Replace

    Replace a faulty speed sensor if it is determined to be the root cause.

  3. Update

    Update controller software if necessary.
