Case IH 2371 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Reverse Clutch not calibrated

Lack of calibration for the reverse clutch pack. On some specific transmission configurations (like the Semi-Powershift), it can also indicate Super-reducer position out of range.

   Check transmission fluid temperature (must be 60 to 105 degrees Celsius / 140 to 221 degrees Fahrenheit).

   Check battery voltage to ensure sufficient power for clutch solenoids.

   Check for related active electrical fault codes for the reverse clutch solenoid (e.g., short to +12V, short to ground, open circuit).

   Ensure safe conditions are met (parking brake engaged, shuttle lever in neutral, operator seated).

   Park the tractor

   Park the tractor in an open area on a flat surface, free of obstacles. Engage the parking brake.

   Warm transmission oil

   Warm the transmission oil to at least 60°C (140°F).

   Access CONFIG MENU

   Turn the key switch to the ON position. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the "Enter" key on the keypad to access the CONFIG MENU.

   Select TCU

   Use the down arrow key to highlight "TCU" and press Enter.

   Access ETC MENU

   Navigate down to the "ETC MENU" and press Enter to access the transmission sub-menus (TRANS VIEW will display).

   Access TRANS SETUP

   Scroll down to the "TRANS SETUP" screen and press Enter.

   Select Clutch Calibration

   Select the "Cltch Cal" (clutch calibration) screen and press Enter.

   Verify temperature and begin

   The screen will display the current oil temperature. If it is within the 60-105°C range, press Enter to begin the automated calibration sequence.

   Follow prompts

   Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the clutches. The system will actuate the reverse clutch to learn its fill time and engagement pressure.

    Complete calibration or replace solenoid

    If the calibration completes successfully, the code will clear. If the calibration fails and kicks out an error, the reverse clutch solenoid is likely sticking or failing mechanically and must be replaced, followed by another calibration attempt.
