Case IH 2376 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Failure in the 19th gear valve

The control system has detected a malfunction, incorrect voltage, or mechanical failure in the solenoid valve responsible for engaging the 19th gear clutch within the transmission manifold.

   Check for related electrical codes that indicate specific circuit failures, such as 2300 (open/short to ground) or 2305/2306 (overvoltage)

   Monitor the 19th gear dump solenoid current using the diagnostic display (Ch 62 or Ch 110). Current should read 0 when off and approximately 70 when engaged

   Inspect the transmission extension harness where it connects to the main harness for disconnected plugs, corrosion, or damaged wires

   Clear and reset codes using the transmission module HC menu (or H8 menu for a full EEPROM reset) and operate the tractor to see if the code returns

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface away from obstacles. Firmly apply the parking brake, block the front and rear wheels, and turn off the engine.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the 19th gear clutch manifold/solenoid valve. Depending on the model, this is typically located on the transmission side cover or within the bell housing.

   Disconnect and Inspect

   Disconnect the electrical connector to the 19th gear solenoid valve. Inspect the pins for pushed-out contacts or fluid intrusion.

   Test the Coil

   Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the solenoid coil. If it reads as an open circuit or is shorted to ground, the solenoid is internally faulty and must be replaced.

   Remove the Valve

   Clean the area around the valve to prevent debris from entering the transmission. Remove the retaining hardware and extract the faulty solenoid valve from the manifold.

   Install the New Valve

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM solenoid valve with clean transmission fluid. Insert it into the manifold and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Perform Transmission Calibration

   Because the transmission management system relies on precise clutch engagement, you must perform a full CVT/Powershift transmission calibration procedure after replacing the valve or clearing the EEPROM. Ensure the ground speed display is zero and follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the clutches.
