2377 (518375.11) - DEC

Case IH 2377 (518375.11) - DEC – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / Transmission ECU: Fault on dump / Fault on 19th gear dump valve

Issue description

A generic or unknown error within the dump solenoid circuit. It indicates the system has detected an electrical fault (such as an open circuit or short) or a mechanical mismatch preventing the dump valve from operating correctly.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Puma 160
  • Puma 165
  • Puma 180
  • Puma 195
  • Puma 210
  • Puma 225
  • Magnum 210
  • Magnum 220
  • Maxxum
  • Steiger

Check the cause

  1. Disconnect the electrical connection on the dump solenoid and measure the coil resistance (should be approximately 7 Ω)

  2. Check the wiring between the solenoid connection and the Transmission ECM for an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power

  3. Verify if the neutral dump solenoid valve is mechanically sticking open or closed, causing a loss of transmission pressure

  4. Check the transmission oil pressure sensors and clutch pedal disconnect switch for mismatches in clutch pressure commands

Repair steps

  1. Secure the tractor

Safely park the tractor on level ground, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

  2. Locate the solenoid

Locate the transmission dump solenoid on the transmission control valve block.

  3. Disconnect the solenoid

Disconnect the electrical connector from the dump solenoid.

  4. Test coil resistance

Test the solenoid coil resistance. If the resistance is out of specification (not ~7 Ω) or internally shorted, the solenoid coil/cartridge must be replaced.

  5. Inspect the wiring harness

If the coil tests good, inspect the wiring harness back to the Transmission ECU. Repair any broken wires or replace damaged connector pins.

  6. Inspect the dump valve cartridge

If the electrical circuit is intact, remove the dump valve cartridge to inspect for mechanical binding or debris. Clean the valve body if necessary.

  7. Install the dump solenoid

Install the new or cleaned dump solenoid. Ensure new O-rings are used and lubricated with clean transmission fluid (e.g., Case IH Akcela Nexplore).

  8. Reconnect the harness

    Reconnect the electrical harness.

  9. Clear codes and test drive

Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool or the tractor's H-menu display, and test drive the tractor to ensure proper clutch engagement and that the code does not return.
