Case IH 2382-05 - BCM – BCM: Work lamp #5 - open circuit
Issue description
The fault code indicates an open circuit in the circuit for Work Lamp #5. An open circuit means there is a physical break in the electrical path—such as a severed wire, a disconnected or loose harness connector, a blown fuse, or a burned-out bulb—preventing electrical current from completing the circuit to the lamp.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum series
- Magnum 270
- Steiger series
- MX/TG series
Check the cause
Connect a diagnostic tool (such as a DPA) and access the BCM configurations to see if the BCM automatically removed the affected light as an active option.
Disconnect the harness at the BCM and the work lamp, then check the resistance between the specific output pin for Work Lamp #5 and the ground pin to confirm the open circuit.
Inspect the connectors for enlarged contact springs on the female terminals by performing a terminal pin fitment test with a matching male terminal.
Repair steps
Isolate the Circuit
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground to prevent shorting.
Inspect the Bulb/Lamp
Remove Work Lamp #5 and test it directly with a 12V power source or check it for continuity. If the lamp is burned out, replace the lamp assembly.
Inspect the Harness
Trace the wiring harness from Work Lamp #5 back to the BCM. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or disconnected plugs.
Repair the Connector
If the diagnostic pin-fitment test revealed a loose female terminal, de-pin the connector and replace the enlarged female terminal.
Clear and Reconfigure
Reconnect all harnesses. Reconnect the battery. Connect the diagnostic tool to the BCM, clear the 2382-05 fault code, and ensure the work lamp is re-enabled in the BCM lighting configuration menu.
