Case IH 2382 – EPL (Electronic Park Lock) Controller / Actuator (Module XA): Parklock – bus integrity error

Communication or signal integrity failure on the CAN bus network specifically related to the Electronic Park Lock (EPL) system.

   Verify that the tractor battery is not currently connected to an external power supply (such as a jump box or heavy-duty charger), as voltage irregularities can trigger this bus error.

   Inspect the tractor's charging system, the EPL solenoid, and the wiring harness for shorts or open circuits.

   Check for other accompanying fault codes that might indicate a broader CAN bus or Central Control Unit (CCU) failure.

   Attempt to clear and re-calibrate the EPL system before assuming the actuator has failed.

   Enter Diagnostic Mode

   Insert the diagnostic test switch (special tool 380000843) into the tractor's main diagnostic connector (located in the cab on the right-hand rear pillar behind the operator's seat) to access the 'H' menu.

   Navigate to the EPL Module

   Use the instrument cluster switches to navigate to the XA module (Electronic Park Lock).

   Run Calibration

   Select menu H1 (Calibration procedures) and follow the prompts to re-calibrate the EPL.

   Test the System

   Operate the tractor and the park lock system to see if fault code 2382 returns.

   Replace if Necessary

   If the error code returns, or if the system refuses to let you complete the H1 calibration, the EPL assembly has failed internally. You must remove and replace the EPL actuator assembly.

   Post-Repair Calibration

   After installing the new EPL actuator, you must repeat the H1 calibration procedure to sync the new module to the tractor.
