Case IH 2382 – Transmission Control Module (TCM): Parklock - bus integrity error
Issue description
Communication failure or data integrity issue on the CAN bus network specifically related to the electronic parking lock system or the Parklock Override Switch.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Puma/Mid Range Magnum
- Case IH Puma Series (165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
- Case IH Magnum Series (235, 340)
- Case IH Steiger Series
Check the cause
Verify that the tractor battery has not been connected to an external power supply or jump box, as voltage irregularities can trigger bus errors
Visually inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors between the Transmission Control Module and the Parklock assembly for damage, frayed wires, or bent/dislocated pins
Test the specific circuits related to the Parklock system for continuity and shorts to ground, paying special attention to Circuit 7588 (Parklock Override Switch) and Circuit 7589 (Parklock Position Signal)
Check the TCM/ECU to ensure it is running the most up-to-date software version
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure & Secure Machine
Ensure the engine is off, the machine is on level ground, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved before beginning work.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed open circuits, short circuits, or damaged pins in the CAN bus wiring or circuits 7588/7589, repair the wiring using an approved harness repair kit.
Replace Faulty Components
If the wiring is intact and the bus integrity error persists, the fault likely lies within the Parklock Override Switch, the Parklock Position Sensor, or the Parklock Solenoid Valve. Remove and replace the faulty component.
Re-flash ECU
If the physical components and wiring are sound but the code remains, connect the diagnostic tool and re-flash the Transmission Control Module with the appropriate software.
Clear and Test
Clear the error code from the TCM. Start the tractor, cycle the parklock, and test the transmission operation to ensure the code does not return.
