Case IH 2384 – Transmission Control Module (TCM): Parklock - potentiometer signal too high
Issue description
The voltage signal returning from the parklock potentiometer (which monitors the physical position of the shuttle/parklock lever) is exceeding the maximum expected threshold. This condition typically points to a short circuit to power (e.g., 5V or 12V), an open ground circuit on the sensor wiring, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the steering console/shuttle lever and the Transmission Control Module for chafed wires shorting to a power source.
Using a multimeter, check the parklock sensor switch signal wire, the reference voltage wire, and the ground wire. Verify that the ground circuit is intact (an open ground will cause the signal voltage to default high).
Disconnect the shuttle lever connector and check for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.
Test the resistance/voltage sweep of the potentiometer while moving the lever. If the reading is erratic, stuck high, or out of specification, the lever assembly has failed internally.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a flat surface, turn off the engine, and manually chock the wheels to prevent rolling.
Access the Console
Remove the plastic trim and covers around the steering column/steering console to access the base of the power shuttle lever.
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the electrical harness connector leading to the shuttle lever/parklock potentiometer assembly.
Remove the Lever
Remove the mounting screws (typically M4 screws and lock washers) securing the control lever assembly to the steering console.
Install the New Part
Mount the replacement shuttle lever assembly and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reconnect and Reassemble
Plug the electrical connector back in and reinstall the steering column covers.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Turn the key on, clear the 2384 fault code from the instrument cluster/TCM, and perform a transmission/parklock calibration procedure to ensure the controller learns the new potentiometer's voltage limits. Test for normal operation.
