Case IH 2386-05 - BCM – BCM: Rotating beacon light - open circuit

The electrical path intended to supply power to the rotating beacon light is broken, disconnected, or has infinite resistance. Because the circuit is incomplete, electrical current cannot flow, and the beacon light will fail to illuminate.

   Check voltage directly at the rotating beacon light connection to see if 12V is present.

   If 12V is not present at the beacon, disconnect connector X-202 and measure for 12V between pins 1 and 2.

   If 12V is present at X-202, inspect wires FL 065 VT and/or FL 066 BK between X-202 and the beacon for an open circuit.

   If 12V is not present at X-202, disconnect connector X-130 and measure for voltage, working your way back to the BCM to find the open circuit.

   Visual Inspection

   Inspect the rotating beacon assembly for physical damage, a blown bulb, or severe corrosion at the base contacts.

   Test the Bulb/Fixture

   Apply a direct 12V source to the beacon light. If it does not light up, replace the beacon light assembly or bulb.

   Trace the Harness

   If the fixture works, use your multimeter to trace the harness starting from the roof connector down to connector X-202, and then to X-130.

   Repair the Break

   Once the break in the wire (often caused by pinched wires in the cab roof or corroded connector pins) is located, splice and solder the wire, sealing it with heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section (e.g., wires FL 065 VT / FL 066 BK).

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect all harnesses, turn the key to the ON position, verify the beacon light operates, and clear the BCM fault codes using the diagnostic menu or a service tool.
