Case IH 2394-05 - BCM – BCM: BCM: Work lamp #9 - open circuit

The controller is commanding Work Lamp #9 to turn on, but it detects zero or insufficient current draw on the circuit. This means the electrical path is broken.

   Consult the operator's manual to identify which physical light is designated as Work Lamp #9.

   Visually inspect the lamp housing for physical damage, water ingress, or a visibly blown halogen filament.

   Disconnect the pigtail at the lamp and inspect terminals for green corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

   Turn the ignition and work light switch ON, then use a multimeter to check for 12V at the power pin of the lamp's harness connector.

   Check for continuity to the chassis ground on the ground pin of the connector.

   If 12V is missing, trace the wire back to the BCM/Cab Power Relay and test for an open circuit between the BCM output pin and the lamp connector.

   Isolate Power

   Turn off the ignition and engage the master battery disconnect switch to prevent short circuits during repair.

   Access the Lamp

   Safely access the affected work lamp (use proper fall protection if working on the cab roof).

   Component Replacement (If Voltage is Present)

   If the harness provides 12V and a solid ground but the light does not illuminate, the lamp itself has an internal open circuit. Unbolt the mounting bracket, disconnect the Deutsch/weather-pack connector, and install a new work lamp assembly.

   Wiring Repair (If Voltage is Missing)

   If the wire is broken, locate the break in the harness (commonly at pinch points near cab hinges or fender mounts). Cut out the damaged section, strip the ends, and splice in a new section of wire using OEM-approved environmentally sealed crimp connectors and heat shrink.

   Reassembly and Testing

   Reconnect the lamp. Turn on the battery disconnect and ignition. Activate the work lights via the cab switch panel.

   Clear Codes

   Verify the light illuminates. The 2394-05 code should change from 'Active' to 'Inactive.' Clear the inactive code from the BCM memory using the A-pillar display or Pro 700/1200 monitor.
