Case IH 24 – PTO (Power Take-Off) Controller: Erase Error Code

Indicates a stored error code from a previously corrected error. It acts as a placeholder or prompt indicating that the system has reached the end of its stored active codes and is ready to have its memory cleared. May be accompanied by the symptom: 'No Error Code - PTO Operates But PTO Indicator Lamp Does Not Illuminate.'

   Read the Flash Codes: Stand clear of the tractor seat. Turn the PTO switch to the ON position, then turn the ignition key to the RUN position (do not start the engine).

   Observe the PTO Indicator Light: The green light by the PTO control will flash the codes. For Code 24, it will flash 2 short blinks, pause for 1 second, then flash 4 short blinks. It will wait 4 seconds and repeat.

   Cycle Through Codes: Turn the PTO lever OFF and right back ON to cycle to the next stored code. Continue this until the green light blinks steady, which means you have reached the end of the recorded codes (the system can store up to 30).

   Verify Controller Power: If the PTO operates but the lamp does not illuminate, check the PTO controller LED lamp under the cab. If the LED is flashing ON and OFF, the controller is active. If it is completely OFF, check the power and ground supply (12 volts) at the C057 connector.

   Read through all codes

   Read through all the codes using the flash method until you reach the end of the code stack.

   Leave PTO switch ON

   Leave the PTO switch in the ON position after reading the last code.

   Cycle PTO switch

   Quickly cycle the PTO switch from OFF to ON 3 to 4 times, ensuring you end in the ON position within a 5-second window.

   Observe indicator light

   The PTO indicator light should blink once and then go out (or stay on steady, depending on the exact MX model year).

   Turn off ignition and switch

   Turn the ignition key OFF and turn the PTO switch OFF.

   Verify operation

   Start the tractor and attempt to operate the PTO normally to verify no active codes return.

   Enter diagnostic mode (Method 2)

   If your MX tractor is equipped with the digital diagnostic display on the A-pillar: Enter the diagnostic mode and use the INCR (Increase) and DECR (Decrease) keys to scroll to the PTO controller.

   Erase codes via ICU2

   To erase the fault codes from the controller, press and hold both the INCR and DECR keys simultaneously for 10 seconds. Note: This will erase ALL stored fault codes for the PTO controller.

   Exit diagnostic mode

   Scroll to EXIT and press the PROG key to return to normal operation.
