Case IH 2402 – Transmission Control Unit (TRANS): FNRP enable LSD short to power

The transmission controller has detected a short to a +12V power source on the low side driver circuit for the FNRP enable function. This usually means the electronic shuttle lever (FNRP pod) is sending an illogical signal to the controller, has an internal short, or is physically hanging up between positions.

   Check the FNRP shuttle lever for physical binding or sticking, especially hanging up in the 'Park' position after sitting.

   Look for accompanying transmission codes (e.g., 51, 59, 60, or 61) that indicate an illogical state where two positions are selected simultaneously.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the FNRP pod on the steering column/armrest for chafing, pinched wires, or corrosion that could cause a short to +12V.

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor the live state of the FNRP switch and verify if the controller accurately reads all positions.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes to the transmission controller.

   Access the Pod

   Remove the plastic trim panels around the steering column or armrest (depending on the specific model's cab layout) to access the base of the FNRP pod assembly.

   Disconnect Harness

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from the faulty FNRP switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Remove the mounting screws/bolts holding the FNRP lever assembly in place and pull the old unit out.

   Install New Part

   Seat the new FNRP shuttle lever assembly and secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the trim panels.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the EST or the tractor's in-cab diagnostic display to clear the inactive 2402 fault code.

   Test Operation

   Shuttle the tractor through Forward, Neutral, Reverse, and Park to ensure the transmission engages properly and the code does not return.
