Case IH 2404 (519376.12) - DEC – DEC: Wrong Direction detected (forward)

The transmission output speed sensors (ORPM1 and ORPM2) detect unintended movement or rotational oscillations while the tractor is stationary. This is caused by an overly sensitive internal IC chip in the Bosch sensor, which causes signal drift, tricking the controller into thinking the tractor is moving in the wrong direction and forcing the transmission into neutral.

   Verify the Operating Condition: Confirm if the fault occurs when the tractor is stopped in 'power zero' (active standstill) or idling.

   Check Sensor Drift: Monitor the ORPM1, ORPM2, and Ring Sensor signals via the diagnostic tool to see if they are drifting while the tractor is stationary.

   Key Cycle Reset: Verify that a key cycle (OFF/ON) temporarily clears the safety error.

   Check DEC Software Version: Determine if the tractor has received the software updates outlined in Product Improvement Programs (PIP) CA5321-NA5321, CA5122-NA5122, or CA5222-NA5222.

   Connect the electronic service tool (EST) to the tractor.

   Begin the software update containment action.

   Flash the DEC module with the updated software released under PIP CA5122-NA5122 / CA5222-NA5222.

   This software update changes the signal logic to provide fault tolerance for ORPM1 and ORPM2, allowing the operator to continue driving until they shift into Neutral.

   Locate and remove the existing transmission output speed sensors (ORPM1 and ORPM2).

   Begin the permanent hardware resolution.

   Install the new-generation Bosch TRX sensors.

   Must be the updated Bosch TRX generation sensor; older chips are obsolete and will continue to cause signal drift.

   Flash the DEC with the corresponding new software homologated specifically for the TRX sensors.
