Issue description
The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the low/high range synchronizer potentiometer that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short circuit to a higher voltage source (such as a 12V power wire), an open ground circuit on the sensor return, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Check the cause
Inspect the low/high range synchronizer potentiometer connector (X-666) and the TCU connector (X-097) for proper seating, damage, corrosion, and tight pins
Disconnect the potentiometer connector, turn the ignition ON, and measure voltage at the harness connector to verify the 5-volt reference signal
Test the signal wire for a short circuit to a 12V power source
Check the sensor ground wire for high resistance or an open circuit, as a lost ground will cause the signal voltage to default high

Resolve Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks reveal a short to power or an open ground in the harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the transmission wiring harness.
Replace the Potentiometer
If the wiring harness, 5V reference, and ground circuits test perfectly, the potentiometer has failed internally. Remove the faulty low/high range synchronizer potentiometer from the transmission housing and install a new one.
Recalibrate the Transmission
Because the controller relies on exact voltage ranges to know the position of the synchronizer, you must perform a transmission calibration procedure using the tractor's display or a diagnostic tool after replacing the potentiometer or repairing the harness.
