Case IH 2426-04 - UCM – UCM: Auto depth control position feedback voltage high

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the depth control position sensor that exceeds the expected normal operating range (often caused by a short to power or a faulty potentiometer).

   Inspect the auto depth control position sensor (rotary potentiometer) for physical damage or water ingress

2. 2

   Check the wiring harness between the depth control position sensor and the UCM for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to a high-voltage source (if voltage is high) or a short to ground/open circuit (if voltage is low)

   Verify the reference voltage (usually 5V) and ground at the sensor connector

   Ensure the connectors at the Universal Control Module (UCM) are fully seated and free of corrosion

   Disconnect battery power

   Disconnect battery power before servicing the UCM or sensor circuits.

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   Repair or replace any damaged sections of the wiring harness between the sensor and the UCM.

   Remove faulty sensor

   If the wiring tests good, remove the faulty auto depth control position sensor from its mounting bracket.

   Install new sensor

   Install the new sensor and ensure the mechanical linkage is properly aligned so the sensor sweeps through its correct physical range.

   Clear codes and recalibrate

   Reconnect the harness and use a Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the AFS Pro monitor to clear the UCM fault codes and recalibrate the auto depth control limits.
