Case IH 2431 – CCU: Creeper switch voltage too high
Issue description
The control unit detects a voltage signal from the creeper switch circuit that exceeds the expected normal operating range. This typically indicates a short to +12V or an open circuit in the switch's wiring harness.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Farmall
- Magnum series
- Maxxum series
- Puma series
Check the cause
Verify the physical adjustment and mechanical operation of the creeper rocker switch
Check the wiring from the CCU to the switch for an open circuit
Check the other side of the switch for +12V with the ignition turned on
Attempt a creeper calibration (Start engine, press clutch and brake, select Forward, release hand brake, press creeper switch, slowly release clutch)
Verify that the tractor has the correct level of software downloaded if calibration fails, then recalibrate
Repair steps
Access the Switch
Remove the necessary cab trim/shroud to access the creeper switch and its wiring harness.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed an open circuit or a short to +12V in the harness between the CCU and the switch, repair or replace the damaged wiring.
Replace the Switch
If the wiring is intact and receives +12V but the switch fails operational checks, remove and replace the faulty creeper rocker switch.
Reassemble
Reinstall all panels and brackets.
Calibrate
Perform the creeper transmission calibration procedure (engaging and disengaging the creeper while driving) to clear the fault code and ensure the CCU recognizes the new switch.
