Case IH 2465 – CCU (Central Control Unit) or Transmission TCU (Transmission Control Unit): Shuttle lever R3 switch voltage too low

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the R3 switch (part of the shuttle lever or creeper unit status assembly) that is below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically points to an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, a failure of the 5-volt reference circuit, or a mechanical failure/sticking of the switch contacts inside the shuttle lever assembly.

   Cycle the shuttle lever back and forth to see if it frees up stuck internal switch contacts

   Verify the 5-volt reference voltage to the transmission/shuttle switches. If the reference voltage is too low, check for a short in the 5V supply line

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the CCU/TCU and the steering column shuttle lever for chafed wires causing a short to ground or disconnected pins causing an open circuit

   Disconnect the shuttle lever connector under the steering column and measure continuity across the switch pins while moving the lever through Forward, Neutral, and Reverse

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the steering wheel (if required by the specific cab layout) and the instrument console/steering column plastic panels to expose the shuttle lever assembly.

   Disconnect the Harness

   Unplug the electrical connector linking the shuttle lever to the main cab wiring harness.

   Remove the Lever Assembly

   Unbolt the shuttle lever assembly from its mounting bracket on the steering column.

   Install the New Part

   Mount the replacement shuttle lever/R3 switch assembly and secure the retaining bolts.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug in the electrical connector. Refit the steering column panels and the steering wheel.

   Calibration/Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and clear the stored fault codes. Start the engine and test the forward, neutral, and reverse engagements to ensure the CCU registers the correct voltages.
