Case IH 2469 - UCM – UCM: Shuttle lever C2 switch voltage too low.

The control module is receiving a signal voltage from the C2 switch circuit (inside the Forward/Neutral/Reverse/Park or FNRP shuttle lever assembly) that has fallen below the acceptable minimum threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground in the signal wire, an open circuit, a loss of the 5V reference voltage to the pod, or a mechanical/electrical failure of the switch itself inside the shuttle lever.

   Cycle the shuttle lever rapidly from forward to reverse and back to neutral several times to free up potentially stuck internal switch contacts.

   Turn the key to the 'ON' position and monitor the shuttle position display on the instrument cluster. If the display shows multiple directions lit at the same time or no direction at all, it confirms a switch state disagreement or failure.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the transmission control (FNRP) pod on the steering column down to the UCM. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or areas where the wire might be shorting to the steering column ground.

   Unplug the shuttle lever connector. Inspect for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or moisture/dirt ingress, which can pull the voltage low.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the shuttle lever pod is receiving its 5V reference voltage and has a good ground. If the 5V reference is missing, the UCM will read the switch voltage as too low.

   Disconnect power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Remove steering column covers

   Remove the plastic cowling/shrouds surrounding the steering column to access the base of the shuttle lever.

   Disconnect the harness

   Unplug the electrical connector linking the shuttle lever to the main cab harness.

   Remove the lever

   Remove the mounting screws/bolts securing the shuttle lever assembly to the steering column bracket and slide the old unit out.

   Install the new lever

   Mount the new shuttle lever assembly and secure the fasteners.

   Reconnect and reassemble

   Plug in the electrical connector, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the steering column covers.

   Test operation

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and verify that the instrument cluster correctly displays F, N, R, and P as you move the lever. Start the tractor and verify engagement in all directions.
