Case IH 2491 (517958.16) - DEC – Main vehicle controller (ICU/VCU) or Transmission/Hydraulic Controller: Hydro Filter Pressure Sensor Warning - Data valid but above Normal Operating Range - Moderately Severe Level
Issue description
The sensor is reading a pressure drop across the hydrostatic/hydraulic filter that is higher than the acceptable limit. Because the data is valid, the system recognizes the sensor is working but is reporting excessive pressure. This typically means the hydro filter is restricted/plugged with debris, or the hydraulic fluid is excessively cold and thick.

- Magnum
- Steiger
Check the cause
Visually and physically inspect the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) connector (e.g., X-523) and the corresponding controller connector (e.g., X-955).
Ensure the connectors are fully connected, not damaged, the pins are in the correct position, and the fit is tight.
Disconnect the sensor connector, turn the ignition switch ON, and check for a +5 Volt reference supply to the sensor.
Repair steps
Replace filter
Replace the hydrostatic/hydraulic charge filter, as the most common mechanical cause for this valid but high pressure reading is a restricted filter.
Repair wiring
If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged pins or wiring at the sensor harness, repair or replace the wiring harness/connector as required.
Replace sensor
If the filter is new, the fluid is at operating temperature, and the wiring has a verified +5V supply but the code persists, the sensor itself is likely skewed out of calibration and must be replaced.
