Case IH 2501 (127.04) - DEC – Transmission Controller (TCU): Transmission oil pressure sensor with open circuit or short to ground

The fault code indicates an electrical circuit issue with the Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor, resulting in a loss of valid voltage signal from the sensor to the controller. The transmission controller uses this sensor to measure the hydraulic pressure in the regulator valve, which distributes regulated pressure to the clutch valves and lube valves.

   View the system hydraulic pressure in the instrumentation controller display to see what the computer is reading.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission pressure sensor for chafed wires, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power.

   Verify that the system pressure solenoid core moves freely in the valve.

   Verify that the system pressure valve spool moves freely in the bore. Remove the spool and spring to inspect both the bore and the spool for any damage, scoring, or burrs.

   Determine sensor failure

   If the physical hydraulic pressure is correct (and the valve/spool moves freely) but the controller display shows a fault, the transmission pressure sensor has failed.

   Disconnect wiring harness

   Locate the transmission pressure sensor on the transmission valve block and disconnect its wiring harness.

   Replace sensor

   Remove the faulty sensor and install the replacement transmission pressure sensor.

   Navigate to display

   Once the new sensor is installed, navigate to the instrumentation controller display.

   Calibrate sensor

   Perform the 'Trans Setup, Cal Pressure' (Transmission Calibration) procedure in the menu to calibrate the new sensor to the transmission controller.
