Case IH 2516 (127.16) - DEC – DEC (Driveline Electronic Controller): Transmission Pressure Sensor - Pressure high
Issue description
The electronic control module has detected that the signal voltage from the transmission hydraulic charge pressure sensor is above the normal operating range (typically indicating a short to positive, an open circuit, or an actual abnormally high hydraulic pressure condition).
Applies to these machines
10 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- Magnum 180
- Magnum 220
- MX285
- Puma 150
- Puma 165 CVXDRIVE
- Puma 220 CVT
- STX Steiger
- Steiger 350-600 horsepower models
Check the cause
Inspect the transmission wiring harness (CVT harness) and the pressure sensor connector for corrosion, broken wires, or a short circuit to a positive voltage source.
Connect a diagnostic laptop (Case IH EST or Jaltest) to monitor live voltage data from the transmission pressure sensor to see if it is pegged high (e.g., above 4.95V on a 5V reference circuit).
Use a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge to verify the actual transmission charge pressure to rule out a genuine mechanical high-pressure issue versus an electrical sensor failure.
Check if the code can be cleared; note that on some ICU software versions, this fault code must be cleared using the EST laptop rather than the cab display keys.
Repair steps
Access the Sensor
Locate the transmission pressure sensor on the transmission valve block/housing.
Disconnect and Test
Disconnect the sensor. If the live data voltage on your diagnostic tool drops, the wiring is likely good, and the sensor itself has failed internally (shorted).
Replace the Sensor
Unthread the faulty transmission pressure sensor and install the new OEM replacement part.
Clear Codes
Connect the Case IH EST or Jaltest diagnostic software and clear the inactive 2516 (127.16) fault code from the DEC memory.
Calibrate
Perform a DEC transmission calibration procedure using the diagnostic tool to ensure the new sensor is properly adapted to the Driveline Electronic Controller.
