Case IH 2543 (5937.03) - DEC – Transmission Control Module (UCM / TECU): Clutch B Pressure Sensor - Signal wire shortcut to Vsupply

The control module is detecting an abnormally high voltage on the signal circuit for the Clutch B pressure transducer. The system suspects that the signal wire is shorted directly to the 5-volt reference supply, which prevents the module from accurately reading the hydraulic pressure applied to Clutch B.

   Inspect the Clutch B pressure transducer connector (X547 or X951) for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Perform a Sensor vs. Harness Test: With the key ON and the sensor disconnected, check if the active fault code changes from 2543 to 2541 (Open circuit or short to ground). If it changes to 2541, the sensor itself is internally shorted.

   Perform a Wiring Harness Check: If the code remains 2543 while unplugged, there is a short in the machine's wiring harness. Use a multimeter to check for continuity between the 5V reference wire and the signal wire back to the Transmission ECU.

   Verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5V reference and has a good ground at the connector.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

   Access the Sensor

   The clutch pressure transducers are typically located on the transmission top cover or the transmission control valve manifold. On many Puma/Magnum models, this requires removing the cab floor panel or accessing the valve block from the right-hand side of the tractor.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the Clutch B pressure transducer. Using a wrench, carefully unscrew the transducer from the hydraulic port. Note: Have a rag handy, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid may leak out.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new pressure transducer into the port. Tighten it to the OEM torque specification (do not overtighten, as these are sensitive electronic components).

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back in. Ensure the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall any cab floor panels or shields that were removed.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Turn the battery disconnect back on. Use the tractor's AFS Pro monitor or a diagnostic service tool to clear the inactive fault codes.

   Transmission Calibration

   Because a clutch pressure sensor was replaced, you must perform a transmission clutch calibration (specifically for Clutch B) to ensure the Transmission ECU learns the engagement characteristics of the new sensor.
