Case IH 2548 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Brake pressure transducer – open circuit or short circuit to ground.
Issue description
The control module is not receiving the expected voltage signal from the brake pressure transducer. The system detects that the circuit is either physically broken/disconnected (open circuit) or the signal wire is shorting directly to a ground source, causing the voltage to drop below the minimum acceptable threshold.

Check the cause
Inspect the brake pressure transducer connector (e.g., X-549) and the UCM connector (e.g., X-953) to ensure they are fully seated, undamaged, and have tight-fitting pins.
Disconnect the transducer connector, turn the ignition ON, and measure the voltage at the harness connector to verify it receives the required +5 Volts reference signal from the UCM.
Inspect the wiring harness between the transducer and the UCM for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper that could be shorting to the tractor's chassis (ground).
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, block the wheels, and turn off the engine. Ensure all pressure is relieved from the hydraulic/pneumatic circuits before removing any valves or sensors.
Resolve Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged connector or a short/open in the wiring harness, repair or replace the affected wiring segment.
Replace the Transducer
Disconnect the electrical connector at the brake pressure transducer. Unthread and remove the faulty brake pressure transducer from the brake line/valve block. Install the new brake pressure transducer and tighten to OEM torque specifications. Reconnect the electrical connector.
Clear and Test
Once the repair is complete, use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's integrated control panel to clear the error code. Test the brake system for normal operation and verify the code does not return.
