Case IH 2555 – UCM: Transmission oil pressure below warning pressure
Issue description
The transmission fluid pressure has dropped below the safe operating threshold. Proper oil pressure is critical to keep gears, clutches, and hydraulic circuits working smoothly; a drop in pressure can lead to rough shifting, overheating, or severe transmission damage.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Optum
- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH Maxxum Series
- Case IH Magnum Series
Check the cause
Verify the transmission fluid level and condition, as low oil is a primary cause of pressure problems.
Check the wiring harness connected to the transmission oil pressure sensor/switch for moisture, dirt, or damaged wires that could cause erratic readings.
Clear the error code from the UCM and test the system for normal operation to see if the code returns.
If the code persists and the sensor is ruled out, inspect the hydraulic circuit for internal leaks or pump issues.
Repair steps
Park and cool down
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and allow the transmission to cool.
Locate sensor
Locate the transmission oil pressure sensor. Depending on the model, it is typically located on top of the transmission case or accessible by removing a small access panel.
Disconnect wiring
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the sensor.
Remove old sensor
Unscrew and remove the old sensor from the transmission housing.
Install new sensor
Apply a dab of thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor (if it does not come pre-applied) and thread it directly into the port.
Reconnect wiring
Reconnect the electrical wiring harness, ensuring the connection is sealed against moisture.
Check fluid level
Check the transmission fluid level and top off any fluid that may have been lost during the swap.
Clear code and test
Turn the key switch ON, clear the fault code, and test the tractor to ensure the warning light remains off and the display shows accurate pressure readings.
