Case IH 2569 – UCM (Universal Control Module): Gear pump (hydro filter) - high pressure warning

Issue description

The system has detected abnormally high pressure at the hydrostatic gear pump filter. The primary failure mode is typically a faulty hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor).

Applies to these machines

  • Optum
  • Case IH Puma 150
  • Case IH Puma 165
  • Case IH Puma 185
  • Case IH Puma 200
  • Case IH Puma 220
  • Case IH Puma 240

Check the cause

  1. Check for concurrent codes; if no other error code is displayed, proceed with diagnostics

  2. Verify that the tractor battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter or external charger). Disconnect if present and test for normal operation

  3. Inspect the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) connector (e.g., X-523 or X-916) and the UCM controller connector (e.g., X-955)

  4. Verify pin fitment to ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, pins are in the correct position, and the fit is tight

  5. Disconnect the sensor connector and check for a +5 Volt reference signal coming from the UCM

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring

If a fault is indicated during the connector and voltage checks, repair or replace the wiring harness/connector as required.

  2. Replace Sensor

If the wiring and voltage are good, the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) is likely faulty and should be replaced.

  3. Clear and Test

Once the cause of the error code has been rectified, clear the error code from the UCM and test the hydraulic system for normal operation.

  4. Software Update

If the fault is still present after replacing the sensor, download the correct/latest level of software to the UCM.

  5. Replace UCM

If the fault recurs after verifying the sensor, wiring, and software, remove and replace the Universal Control Module (UCM).

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Hydro filter pressure sensor (Charge pressure sensor)

OEM part number varies by specific chassis/serial; primary component responsible for false high-pressure readings.

  • Universal Control Module (UCM)

Required only if the controller has internally failed and cannot process the sensor signal.

  • Hydrostatic Gear Pump Filter

Generic replacement part. A severely restricted filter can cause genuine high-pressure conditions.
