Case IH 2570 – UCM (Universal Control Module) or Transmission Controller: Gear pump (hydro filter) - pressure on filter too high
Issue description
The system has detected that the hydraulic pressure at the hydro filter (charge pressure) has exceeded the maximum allowable limit. This is typically caused by a restriction in the hydraulic circuit (such as a clogged filter), excessively cold/thick hydraulic fluid, a faulty charge pressure sensor, or a mechanical fault in the gear pump.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Optum
- Case IH Puma Series (e.g., Puma 125, 140, 150, 165, 180, 200, 210, 220, 240 CVT/CVX)
- Case IH Axial-Flow Combines (e.g., 7230, 8230, 9230)
Check the cause
Check for other error codes: If any other error codes are present (especially sensor voltage codes like 2573 or 2574), diagnose those first. If no other codes are present, proceed to pressure test the hydraulic system to diagnose the root cause.
Check external power: Ensure the tractor battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter). If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it and test the system for normal operation.
Inspect the sensor connector: Check the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) connector (designated as X-523) and the controller connector. Ensure they are securely connected, not damaged, and that the pins are tight and in the correct position.
Check sensor voltage: Disconnect connector X-523, turn the key switch ON, and check for a +5 Volt reference signal at the sensor harness.
Repair steps
Fluid and Filter Check
Drain the hydraulic fluid housing if necessary and replace the spin-on hydraulic/transmission oil filter.
Verify Fluid
Refill or top off the system with the correct OEM-specified hydraulic/transmission fluid. Run the tractor to operating temperature, as cold, thick oil can temporarily trigger this code.
Sensor Replacement
If the filter is new, the fluid is correct, and a manual pressure test shows normal operating pressures, the charge pressure sensor (X-523) is likely faulty and reading artificially high. Remove the old sensor from the hydro filter housing and install the replacement.
Clear Codes
Once the repair is complete, use the tractor's diagnostic menu or an EST tool to clear the error code and test the system for normal operation.
