Case IH 2573 (517958.04) - DEC – UCM (User Control Module): Hydro Filter Pressure Sensor - Open Circuit Or Short Circuit To Ground

This code indicates a failure in the circuit for the hydrostatic filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor). The controller is detecting that the signal voltage is either completely missing (open circuit—such as a broken wire or unplugged connector) or the signal wire is shorted directly to the chassis ground.

   Visually inspect the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) connector X-523 and the UCM controller connector X-955.

   Ensure both connectors are fully seated and undamaged. Verify that pins are in the correct position, free of corrosion, and terminal fit is tight.

   Disconnect connector X-523 at the sensor, turn the key switch ON, and check the supply pin on the harness side for a +5 Volts reference signal.

   Test the signal wire between connector X-523 and X-955 for continuity (to rule out an open circuit) and test it against the chassis ground (to rule out a short to ground).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to protect the UCM.

   Harness Repair

   If your multimeter tests in the diagnostic phase indicated a short to ground or an open wire, trace the harness between X-523 and X-955. Repair the broken wire or replace the damaged harness section, then re-loom and secure it away from pinch points.

   Sensor Replacement

   If the wiring harness, +5V reference, and ground are all intact, the sensor itself has failed internally. Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure, unscrew the faulty hydro filter pressure sensor from the filter housing/manifold, install the new sensor and torque to OEM specifications, then reconnect the X-523 connector.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON and use the tractor's diagnostic 'H menu' (specifically the HC menu) or a diagnostic tool to clear the stored error codes from the EEPROM.

   Test

   Start the tractor and test the hydraulic/transmission system for normal operation to ensure the code does not return.
