Case IH 2573 – UCM: Hydro filter pressure sensor - open circuit or short circuit to ground

The control module is not receiving the expected voltage signal from the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor). The system has detected either a complete break in the electrical circuit (open circuit) or the signal wire is shorting directly to the ground/chassis.

   Locate the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) connector (X-523 or X-916) and the UCM controller connector (X-955) for visual inspection.

   Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are in the correct position with a tight fit. Look for corrosion or pushed-back pins.

   Perform a voltage supply test: Disconnect the sensor connector, turn the ignition switch to ON, and measure the voltage at the harness connector to verify the UCM is supplying a +5 Volts reference signal.

   Repair Wiring

   If the +5V reference is missing, or if there is continuity to ground on the signal wire, trace the wiring harness back to the UCM (connector X-955) and repair the broken or shorted wire.

   Replace Sensor

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly (good +5V supply, good ground, and no shorts in the signal wire), the internal circuitry of the sensor has failed. Remove and replace the hydro filter pressure sensor.

   Clear Codes

   Once the physical repair is complete, use the tractor's diagnostic 'H Menu' or an electronic service tool to clear the stored error codes from the UCM's EEPROM.

   System Test

   Start the machine and test the hydraulic and transmission systems for normal operation to ensure the code does not return.
