Case IH 2574 (517958.03) - DEC – Universal Control Module (UCM): Hydro filter pressure sensor - short circuit to 5V

The system is detecting a voltage that is too high (short to 5V) on the circuit for the hydro filter pressure sensor (also referred to as the charge pressure sensor).

   Check that the tractor battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply. If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it and test the system for normal operation.

   Locate and inspect the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor) connector (X-523 or X-916) and the UCM controller connector (X-955).

   Ensure the connectors are fully connected, not damaged, the pins are in the correct position, and that the fit is tight.

   Disconnect the sensor connector (X-523 or X-916) and turn the key on to verify the +5 Volt reference voltage is present and not shorted.

   Repair wiring or connectors

   If diagnostic checks reveal damaged pins, loose connections, or a short in the wiring harness between the sensor and the UCM, repair or replace the wiring harness/connector as required.

   Replace pressure sensor

   If the wiring and connectors test okay (normal +5V reference and no physical damage), the fault is likely internal to the sensor. Replace the hydro filter pressure sensor (charge pressure sensor).

   Clear codes and test

   Clear the fault codes and test the machine to verify the repair.

   Replace UCM

   If the code persists after verifying the wiring and replacing the sensor, the issue lies within the module. Replace the Universal Control Module (UCM).
