Case IH 2581 (519179.03) - DEC – DEC: Brake Right Oil Pressure Sensor - short to high voltage

A "short to high voltage" condition means the control module is detecting a voltage signal from the Right Brake Oil Pressure Sensor that is above the acceptable or expected threshold (typically above 4.65V or 4.95V on a standard 5V reference circuit).

   Visually inspect the sensor's electrical connectors for looseness, poor connection, bent pins, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace the connector as necessary.

   Test the sensor ground circuit for an open connection. An open ground will cause the sensor to report a high voltage.

   Disconnect the sensor and turn the ignition ON. Measure the voltage between the signal wire and ground. If high voltage is present on the harness side while disconnected, there is a short to high voltage in the wiring harness that must be repaired.

   If the wiring harness (signal and ground) tests good and the connector is secure, the fault is likely the pressure sensor itself. If a new sensor does not resolve the issue, the ECM/DEC may be faulty.

   Preparation

   Place the machine on level and solid ground, and place chocks against the wheels to prevent movement.

   Safety

   Remove the negative cable from the battery before starting the service work.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the Right Brake Oil Pressure Sensor (typically found on the brake control valve block or rear axle housing, depending on the model).

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor. Unscrew and remove the faulty brake oil pressure sensor from the hydraulic port.

   Installation

   Install the new Brake Right Oil Pressure Sensor into the port.

   Reconnection

   Reconnect the electrical harness connector to the new sensor, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

   Finalization

   Reconnect the battery cable. Start the machine, apply the brakes, and check for any hydraulic oil leaks at the sensor fitting. Clear the fault codes from the system and verify the code does not return.
