Issue description
The Reverse Clutch Pressure Sensor is sending a signal that is 'Data Valid But Above Normal Operating Range.' This means the sensor's electrical circuit is intact, but the hydraulic pressure value it is reading is higher than the expected maximum limit for the reverse clutch circuit. This can be caused by an actual hydraulic overpressure situation (e.g., a stuck regulator valve) or a failed sensor.

Check the cause
Check Fluid Levels: Verify the transmission fluid level and condition. Low, degraded, or contaminated oil can cause erratic pressure readings and jerking.
Manual Pressure Test: Insert a manual hydraulic pressure gauge into the diagnostic port near the shift accumulators/reverse clutch to verify the actual system pressure. Compare the manual gauge reading to the live data displayed on the instrumentation controller.
Inspect the Valve Block: If the manual gauge confirms the pressure is actually too high, the issue is hydraulic. Verify that the system pressure solenoid core moves freely in the valve.
Inspect the Spool and Spring: Remove the system pressure valve spool and spring. Inspect both for damage or burrs, and check the bore for scoring. A stuck valve will cause overpressure.
Repair steps
Locate sensor
If the manual gauge shows normal hydraulic pressure but the sensor continues to report an 'Above Normal' reading, the transmission pressure sensor has failed and must be replaced: Locate the reverse clutch/transmission pressure sensor on the transmission case. This typically requires removing a small access panel to reach the sensor block.
Disconnect wiring
Disconnect the sensor from the factory wiring harness.
Remove sensor
Unscrew the faulty sensor from the transmission port.
Apply sealant
Apply a small dab of thread sealant to the threads of the new sensor.
Install new sensor
Thread the new sensor into the port and tighten it to OEM specifications.
Reconnect wiring
Reconnect the wiring harness.
Calibrate transmission pressure
Crucial Final Step: Access the instrumentation controller display and perform the 'Trans Setup, Cal Pressure' (Transmission Pressure Calibration) procedure so the TCU learns the new sensor's baseline values.
