2599 (519169.15) - DEC

Case IH 2599 (519169.15) - DEC – DEC / TCU: Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor - Signal Higher Than Expected

Issue description

The Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor is reading a hydraulic pressure or electrical voltage above the normal calibrated operating range.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • Maxxum
  • Puma
  • Magnum

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission fluid level and condition for contamination or debris that could cause valve body blockages leading to abnormal pressure readings.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the DEC/TCU to the Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor for chafed wires or a short to power condition.

  3. Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor live pressure readings of the Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor and compare them against the Even Clutch Pressure Sensor.

  4. Attempt a transmission clutch calibration to measure clutch engagement and determine if the clutch pack and solenoids are operating within correct parameters.

Repair steps

  1. Park machine safely

Safely park the machine on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

  2. Locate sensor

Locate the Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor (often located on the transmission valve body or the side of the transmission housing, depending on the specific tractor model).

  3. Disconnect harness

Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor.

  4. Remove sensor

Remove the faulty pressure sensor (be prepared to catch a small amount of hydraulic fluid).

  5. Install new sensor

Install the new Odd Clutch Pressure Sensor and torque to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnect harness

    Reconnect the electrical harness.

  7. Top off fluid

Top off the transmission hydraulic fluid if necessary.

  8. Calibrate transmission

Connect the diagnostic tool, clear the fault code, and perform a mandatory transmission clutch calibration procedure so the DEC/TCU can learn the values of the new sensor.

Parts you might need
