2601

Case IH 2601 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / SPS Transmission module: 12VF1 voltage supply is low

Issue description

The 12-volt power supply circuit designated as "12VF1" is delivering voltage below the normal operating threshold (typically below 12-14V) to the control module.

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger T4B
  • Case IH Steiger
  • Case IH Magnum
  • Case IH Puma

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the power distribution center/fuse box for a blown fuse on the transmission 12VF1 circuit.

  2. Verify that the tractor's display battery voltage is reading a healthy 12 to 14 Volts.

  3. Check the transmission harness and connectors (specifically looking at the TCU connectors, such as CN1B pins 26/27 which route the 12VF1 circuit) for open circuits, shorts to ground, or damaged pins.

Repair steps

  1. Verify the Fault

Check if the fault code is currently active or inactive.

  2. Locate and Inspect the Fuse

Access the tractor's fuse panel and locate the fuse responsible for the transmission 12VF1 circuit.

  3. Replace the Fuse (If Blown)

If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the exact same amperage rating. Turn the key on and monitor for fault code activity. If the code clears and the fuse holds, return the machine to field operation.

  4. Trace for Shorts (If the Fuse Blows Again)

If the new fuse immediately blows, there is a short to ground in the 12VF1 circuit. Leave the connectors disconnected at the TCU and trace the wiring harness back to the fuse block to locate the chafed wire or short.

  5. Inspect Connectors

Ensure the connectors at the Transmission Control Unit are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are tight and in the correct position. Repair or replace connector pins as required.

  6. Clear Codes

Once the wiring is repaired or the fuse is replaced, use the Electronic Service Tool (or the tractor's diagnostic display) to clear the code and test operate the machine.
