Case IH 2630 (6157.12) - DEC – Engine ECU: Charge Air Cooler Outlet Temperature (CACOT)

Issue description

Indicates an issue with the Charge Air Cooler Outlet Temperature. FMI 3 or 4 indicate electrical issues (voltage out of range high/low, open/short circuit), while FMI 15 or 16 indicate the air cooler is plugged or radiator needs to be cleaned.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • Steiger
  • Magnum
  • Puma

Check the cause

  1. Check the Charge Air Cooler Outlet Temperature Sensor (often designated as B5205 or B32) for physical damage.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness connected to the sensor for an open circuit (signal or ground) or a short to ground.

  3. Visually inspect the engine radiator and charge air cooler for blockages, dirt, or debris that would restrict airflow and cause undercooling/overheating.

Repair steps

  1. Clean radiator and charge air cooler

If the fault is 2630 15 or 2630 16, thoroughly clean the radiator and charge air cooler to remove any plugging.

  2. Repair or replace wiring harness

If the fault is electrical (2630 3 or 2630 4), repair or replace the damaged wiring harness.

  3. Replace sensor

If the wiring is intact but the voltage remains out of range, replace the Charge Air Cooler Outlet Temperature Sensor.
